The main village of Laguna Pueblo (Old Laguna) is located 45 miles (approx.) west of Albuquerque. The pueblo is located on the edge of one of the richest uranium deposits in the world. Laguna is the youngest and the second largest of the pueblos. The outlying villages are New Laguna, Paguate, Paraje, Mesita, Encinal and Seama. The Laguna Pueblo Indians live in more villages than any other Pueblo tribe. Old Laguna Pueblo is registered as a National Historic Landmark. Laguna artists and jewelry makers bring a modern note to their work distinguishing their art from many other Indian craftsmen.
