Las Vegas, once the principal town on the Santa Fe Trail, is on the high plains of the northeastern part of the state. Shadowed by the Sangre de Cristo Mountains on the west and rolling plains to the east, Las Vegas reflects its history with 900 buildings in nine historic districts on the National Registry (more than any city in the U.S.). In 1913 Las Vegas was the Western Headquarters for Lubin Films. In 1915, the Selig-Polyscope Company and their star/director Tom Mix too over the Lubin Studio. |
