welcome to the official home of the
new mexico state film office

“During these erratic financial times, the biggest compliment we consistently receive is that New Mexico’s film incentive programs are tried and true, reliable and sustainable. We invite you to peruse the wealth of information contained in this site or contact one of our dedicated staff that’s knowledgeable, experienced, and willing to jump through rings of fire for you. From our Governor to our small-town community leaders, ‘welcome.’”

» New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department Creates Specialized “Film Unit” to Handle Film Rebates
The New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department has created a specialized “Film Unit” consisting of one supervisor and four operational auditors to review and process submissions for New Mexico’s 25% Tax Rebate. New Mexico’s tax department has been recognized throughout the film industry for its competence and professionalism and has created the new unit to accommodate the influx of film credits. In addition, the new staff is receiving specialized training in film production practices which will allow them to be more effective in working with the unique intricacies of the film industry.

“Our auditors will talk the industry language, visit the sets and understand the complexity of the film and digital media business,” said Rick Homans, Secretary of the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department. “The goal is to be open and friendly to the film industry and, at the same time, maintain accountability and a clear set of rules and expectations.”

The new “Film Unit” supervisor is MaryAnn Fernandez.
