Dear New Mexico Filmmakers,
Our efforts to promote, honor and train New Mexico’s own filmmaking community continue to grow. Thanks to Governor Richardson, the New Visions/New Mexico Contract Award Program is entering its third year, and to date has provided $320,000 in contracts to 23 New Mexico-based filmmakers. The Governor’s Cup Competition celebrates its fifth year in 2009, and after gathering together over six hundred NM Filmmakers last year, our annual Conference and First Vision Forum will enter its third year next spring. In August 2008, the National Association of Latino Independent Producers moved two of their outstanding programs – the Latino Writers Lab and Latino Producers Academy - to Santa Fe. And we’ve recently created a pilot mentorship program for above-the-line and specialty crafts.
